Formally founded in 2007, the GLBT Center’s stated mission is to engage, develop and empower members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer (GLBTQ) communities and their allies. After a 2017 study found an alarming rate of food insecurity and homelessness among NC State students, the university rallied to solve the problem, expanding and promoting assistance programs such as Pack Essentials. Donor support for these programs is critical as students confront the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Honoring Our Piano Pioneers

When an anonymous donor made a generous gift to endow a new piano performance scholarship in the Department of Music, they left it up to the department to name the fund. Former department head Bob Petters, who has taught in the music department since 1976, recommended that the scholarship be named for two women who each played a pivotal role in developing the piano program at NC State — Phyllis Vogel and Marilyn Lynch.

Juntos NC Announces Second Virtual Summer Academy

The virtual event from June 15-18 will bring Latino students from around North Carolina together virtually to recognize their challenges, identify their strategies, and share their strengths.
