Academic Advisor and Lecturer - University Advising and Exploratory Studies

Bio

Katy holds her Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology where she built a strong foundation in performance, mindset, and personal growth. As a former Division I cross country athlete and experienced coach for track and cross country, she brings firsthand insight into the demands and transitions of high-performance environments.

Katy currently serves as an Academic Advisor and Lecturer in the Exploratory Studies program, supporting first-year students as they discover their “best fit” major. Katy helps students clarify their interests, build confidence, and make informed academic and career decisions through cross-curricular advising, career exploration, and meaningful engagement with campus resources.

Katy previously worked as an Executive Academic Coach for first year, first-generation college students where she developed strengths in mentorship, communication, and individualized support. She is especially passionate about helping students navigate challenges, strengthen self-awareness, and develop effective strategies for lifelong success.

With a strong interest in resiliency and mindset development, Katy is excited to participate in facilitator training as an opportunity to deepen her skills and further support the growth of others. Her Clifton Strengths of Relator, Developer, Empathy, Individualization, and Learner reflect her relational, strengths-based approach and commitment to continuous learning. When she isn’t at work, Katy enjoys spending time outside with her two sons hiking, mountain biking, walking their trail-loving dog, surfing, or water skiing.
