We're dedicated to starting all incoming students off on the right foot when they enter NC State. From first-year and transfer student orientations to summer programs to help you get a head start, NC State provides the support you need to launch your academic career successfully.
New Student and Family Orientation
In order to officially join the Wolfpack, each first-year and transfer student is required to complete orientation, presented by New Student Programs. During orientation, you will learn how to succeed in and out of the classroom, get a glimpse into student life and start making connections with students, faculty and staff.
Summer Start
Summer Start allows you to get a head start on college academics and life. In Summer Start, you have the opportunity to connect with your new classmates and student mentors, engage with your faculty members in a smaller classroom setting and explore your academic and personal interests at NC State — all before your first semester even begins!
Welcome Weeks
NC State is full of traditions! Two of our favorites are Wolfpack Welcome Week and Winter Welcome Week, where you’ll begin to experience the best of NC State and create a foundation for a successful academic year. Welcome Week is your chance to learn more about your new home, make new friends, build your community and explore all of the opportunities available to you outside the classroom. Returning students, faculty and staff are also in on the fun, which includes more than 100 events and activities.
